Sometimes a song from a movie soundtrack achieves success that far exceeds the success of the pic itself. A cursory listing would include the Supremes' "The Happening," the Fifth Dimension'southward "Living Together, Growing Together," Dionne Warwick's "That's What Friends Are For, and Billy Preston and Syreeta's "With Yous I'k Born Over again." Preston had scored mid-'70s one thousand thousand-sellers on A&M Records with "Outa Infinite," "Will It Get Round in Circles," "Space Race," and "Nothing From Nothing." By the end of the decade, Preston felt creatively stifled and signed with Motown Records. Songwriter Carol Connors told him that material was being sought for the soundtrack of Fast Break, a movie starring Gabriel Kaplan of ABC's Welcome Back Kotter. Motown exec Suzanne De Passe paired Preston with Syreeta Wright with Motown singer/songwriter Syreeta Wright who co-wrote hits with Stevie Wonder ("Signed Sealed and Delivered"). Different most of Preston'southward other hits, "With You lot I'm Born Once again" is a soft carol with strong classical and operatic leanings. Written by Carol Connors and David Shire, information technology went to number 4 pop and charted number 86 R&B in early 1980. Preston and Wright were reunited on the summertime 1980 single "Ane More than Fourth dimension for Dearest."
